About this trip

The Good News of Christ is revealed in history. We know God and God’s saving power through words that were spoken and events that occurred at particular times and places.
I invite you to come with us and visit the places where the history of our salvation was played out, the places where Jesus taught and worked His signs, where He offered Himself in sacrifice, where He rose and ascended. To visit these places and to worship in them con-nects us with the history of our salvation with a special immediacy, and makes it more real. And often, since Jesus was very much aware of His physical surroundings, seeing the place where a teaching was given or parable told can give us a new and more lively understand-ing of passages that had seemed obscure on paper.
I am excited at the opportunity to visit the Holy Land and to share with you the wonder and the power of these holy places.

During the visit to Nazareth, we visit the Basilica of the Annunciation Church which includes the Church of St. Joseph (it’s from 1914-21 built over Byzantine ruins) which tradition identifies it with the workshop of Joseph and the house of the Holy family. We will continue with a visit of the Church of the Incarnation. Inside is the Grotto are the remains of the house of the Blessed Virgin where the Angel appeared and announced the good news. Following the pilgrims path, we visit Mary’s well where often the Virgin Mary would have walked to draw water from the spring.
